Growth Factors to Aid in Healing – Salt Lake City, Utah

PRF - 3rd dental

We are dedicated to providing our patients with the newest dental technology and dental treatments that are out there. Because of this, 3rd South Dental is pleased to say that we are now utilizing the use of growth factors to aid in healing in our office. The use of dental growth factors has allowed us to improve the healing process for our patients after experiencing a major dental procedure.

What are natural growth factors?

Growth factors, or PRF, is a temporary 3-dimensional fibrin matrix from your blood used to help speed up the healing process for a procedure such as an extraction. After getting a tooth extracted, it is important to keep the jaw bone strong after losing the support of the tooth root by applying a bone graft. If the patient is wanting to replace the missing tooth with an implant, a bone graft is needed.

The natural protein in your blood is used to clot while the body is undergoing pain and bleeding. Other than making healing time faster, the other benefits of growth factors include:

  • Can greatly decrease the risk of the site getting an infection
  • Along with quicker healing time, it is reported that there is less swelling and less of a need to partake in antibiotics
  • It assists the body in tissue regeneration

We care for our patients and we want to do all that we can to help the healing process after serious dental procedures. With natural growth factors, we can create a stronger foundation of the jaw bone for a dental implant to be placed if wanted.
