Dental Denture

Dentures are artificial teeth and gums that are created specially for your mouth to replace teeth that you may have lost or that needed to be removed.

There are two types of dentures, namely partial and full dentures. Partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing. They sit on the gum line and are fastened to the nearby natural teeth. Full or complete dentures replace all your natural teeth and are held in place by suction or a type of adhesive. Both types are removable. There are also fixed or implant supported dentures, which are attached to dental implants that are fixed to a patient's jaw bone. This is a permanent option that should be cared for with the same intensity as traditional
dentures.

Denture care

Like natural teeth, bacteria and plaque can build up on artificial teeth, which is why it is
important they be removed and washed with a mild soap or denture cleaner and a soft
toothbrush. To preserve your dentures, submerge them in a glass of warm water overnight, to give your gums a rest and to make sure the dentures do not dry out and become misshapen.

The benefits

Dentures not only keep the appearance of a full smile but assist in keeping the structural
integrity of the mouth. Artificial teeth replacements maintain your ability to chew and keep a normal lifestyle. Dentures also allow a patient to have painful and troublesome teeth removed with the option of having an effective replacement.
